I am currently making this post from like 20000 feet ... or however high airplanes go.
My Delta flight has WiFi by GoGo. It's really cool. Its also free for the holidays apparently -- or just on this flight because we have a rep on board. I don't know. But its cool. I wish the flight were longer! hha
This will definitely make long flights bearable!

Boeing used to run a service like this on long-haul international flights, but it was discontinued at the end of 2006. That year I was on a Japan Airlines flight from Heathrow to Tokyo, and another from Singapore to Tokyo. Both had the service. It was great. I remember making a Skype call from somewhere over Siberia and talking on gchat to friends in DC at 3am while 30,000 feet over the South China Sea.
Hopefully this service does better with profitability than Boeing's did. I would gladly pay $20 for this on long-haul flights.
Yea a bunch of people tried the whole WiFi thing a few years ago and it kind of flopped - I just don't think there was enough interest.
But Delta is just the latest in a series of airlines to start rolling out WiFi.
And on any flight longer than the DCA-LGA shuttle, I would gladly pay for it. I would pay for it on the shuttle if I could keep my laptop out between 0 and 10000 feet. I barely had anytime to do anything before they were yelling at me to put it away.
Anyway - I look forward to more WiFi, and agree that I'd gladly shell out a good chunk of change to have the internet on a long-haul flight.
